Felter

Creating functional art that promotes a sense of wonder and comfort inspires me. Enchanted by the warmth created when light illuminates wool, I became passionate about making lamps. The marriage between wool, light, and design creates a useful and visually pleasing piece of art. Each lamp is unique and is an interpretation of something I’ve seen or felt in nature.

Wet felting is an ancient process. Although the process is simple, there are many steps from start to finish. Essentially, to make a felt fabric all one needs is wool, water, olive oil soap and lots of “elbow grease”. To add texture and dimension to a piece I incorporate different types of silk, wool byproducts, metal foils/fibers, and plant products. Most of my learning has been through experimentation, although YouTube tutorials and a few online courses have contributed to my skill set.
